The marsh of Senillar is located near the popular Ampolla beach in Moraira. It is a coastal wetland which was restored by the council in 2002 and consists of a series of small lagoons separated from the sea by the sand barrier which creates the Ampolla beach. There are three distinct environments: lagoons, riverbanks and sand dunes which accommodate a wide variety of flora and fauna. It has been declared as a ‘Wildlife Reserve’ by the Valencian Department of Environment because of the presence of a protected fish called ‘fartet’ (Aphanius Iberus) which is listed as a endangered species as well as other interesting types of flora and fauna.
